Carmen

Funny Girls company member since 2006 who performs and hosts.

cabaret performer

The act

Carmen is a host in the classic northern club style. She honed her comedy in Liverpool's city-centre clubs and on stages around the UK before arriving in Blackpool, and her stock in trade is the fast, cutting one-liner. As hostess she keeps a sharp eye on the whole room, picks out the birthday girls and the stag who thought he'd get away with it, and has a comeback ready for any heckler. Her own billing presents her as a diva with a tongue to match, but also as a safe pair of hands: an experienced hostess who knows how to make a nervous first-timer feel welcome while the rest of the room laughs.

If you sit near the front at Funny Girls, expect to become part of her material. That is the deal, and most people go home delighted.

Career highlights

  • Liverpool clubs. Carmen built her act in Liverpool and on the UK club circuit before joining Funny Girls.
  • Funny Girls since 2006. She joined the company in 2006 as a performer and host, and became one of the venue's best-known faces between the big production numbers.
  • The Bank years. She stepped away for a couple of years to help set up a Blackpool restaurant, then returned as host for the Christmas 2021 season, alongside Betty Legs Diamond and the Funny Girls line.
  • New era. When Funny Girls changed hands in 2026, Carmen was named as the venue's head of guest experience, so she remains part of the team under the new owners.
