What it is and who it welcomes

Pride Lodge is a small, gay-owned guesthouse at 12 High Street, in the old guest-house streets between Blackpool North station and Dickson Road. It describes itself as a quiet, safe base for LGBTQ+ guests and their friends, and it says plainly that everyone is welcome. It is not a men-only house, and couples, solo travellers and groups of friends all stay. Because there are only five rooms, you can also book the whole house for a group.

The Lodge sits right in the scene. Sherlock's, Kaos, the Flying Handbag and Funny Girls are all within about 100 metres. You can walk home in a couple of minutes, which matters in a town where taxis are not cheap.

Rooms

There are five en-suite rooms, all with showers:

  • One cosy double, which is let for single occupancy only.
  • Four larger king or super-king rooms, for one or two people. Some are set up as suites with a sofa or chair.

Rooms are priced per room, not per person. Each has a smart TV, a fridge, a kettle, a hairdryer, an iron and ironing board, a fan that blows hot or cold, USB sockets, wireless phone charging and free WiFi.

Sauna, gym, sunbed and hot tub

This is what sets the Lodge apart from most small guesthouses in town.

  • Sauna, sunbed and multi-gym are free for guests during the daytime. The published hours vary between pages, from 10am until 7pm or 8pm, so check on arrival. The sunbed runs on tokens bought at reception.
  • Garden hot tub is seasonal and usually runs from spring until early October. It is closed over winter for maintenance. In season, groups who book at least two nights can arrange late use until 11pm for an extra charge.
  • Enclosed private garden for afternoon sun in the warmer months.

Clothing is optional in the sauna and garden. The house has said swimwear is discouraged in the hot tub, but that line has been updated more than once, so ask if it matters to you.

Breakfast and food

There is no cooked breakfast on site. Instead, every room has a light breakfast: cereal, milk, orange juice, breakfast bars, biscuits, tea, coffee and hot chocolate.

For a proper fry-up, the café opposite is about 50 yards away. The Duke (around five minutes' walk), Peek-a-Booze (about six minutes) and DeLovely (about eight minutes) also serve food, and some of them give Lodge guests a discount. For Sunday lunch, the Duke, Mardi Gras, DeLovely (book ahead), the Flying Handbag and Peek-a-Booze all do roasts.

Discount card

Guests get a free discount card for the length of their stay. It works at a list of LGBTQ+-friendly bars, restaurants and events nearby. The headline perk has been a big saving on standing tickets at Funny Girls. The Lodge's older Gold Card loyalty scheme is being phased out and will not be valid after 1 April 2027.

Booking tips

  • Book direct. Gold Card holders must book by WhatsApp or phone.
  • Minimum stays: two nights at weekends, and three nights over event weekends and bank holidays.
  • Midweek savings: 15% off Sunday to Thursday stays of two nights or more. On Sunday to Thursday stays of four or five nights, the cheapest night is free.
  • Deposits: the first night is a non-refundable deposit. Last-minute bookings are paid in full and are non-refundable.
  • Early check-in and late check-out can be bought for a fee, subject to availability. Book late check-out online or on arrival. Early check-in must be arranged by phone.

Parking

There is no private car park. Bank Street open-air car park is about 200 yards away, and the Lodge sells a discounted daily scratch-card pass for it at reception, while stocks last. You need one card per day, and you collect and pay for it before you park. The Talbot Road multi-storey and the Dickson Road open-air car park are each three or four minutes' walk. See our parking and arrival guide for prices.

Accessibility

The Lodge does not publish an access statement. Like most of the old terraced houses on High Street, expect stairs. Ask before you book if you need step-free access.

Tips

  • Book early for Pride and Illuminations weekends.
  • Buy your parking pass at reception before you park.
