Health, safety and helplines
- Angels of Freedom: Visible volunteer LGBT+ support in the Freedom Quarter most Friday evenings; signposting, wellbeing, asylum support.
- West Yorkshire Police LGBTQ+ Contact Point: Partnership contact point with Angels of Freedom where you can meet local officers.
- Night Safe Leeds: Council-led night-time safety: street marshals in orange hi-vis, a Women's Night Safe Space (Fri/Sat until 3am), a LeedsWatch CCTV link, the WalkSafe app and Ask for Angela venues
- Yorkshire MESMAC (Leeds): Free confidential HIV/STI testing, LGBTQIA+ counselling, outreach, condoms, trans and non-binary outreach.
- BHA Leeds Skyline: HIV support for people living with HIV and their partners, families and carers.
- Leeds hate crime reporting scheme (Leeds City Council, West Yorkshire Police, Stop Hate UK): Report hate crimes or incidents.
- LGBT Switchboard: National confidential LGBT+ talk line.
- Leeds City Council Equality Team / LGBT+ Hub: Council LGBT+ consultation and equality contact.
Community groups
- Angels of Freedom CIC: Volunteer LGBTQ+ community group: Friday evening street engagement in the Freedom Quarter (Lower Briggate and Call Lane), visiting bars, flyering, talking with door teams about St John Ambulance, British Transport Police and Ask for Angela; social space and support hub, badminton (Bad Mittens), football training with the Leeds United Foundation, asylum support, hate crime review group. From October 2026 runs 'Open Door', a free weekly drop-in (alternating Wed/Thu, 11am-4:30pm) at the Angels Hub, Woodhouse Community Centre.
- Pride Place (Pride of Place Leeds): Leeds' first LGBTQ+ community and cultural space; operating since September 2024, in a temporary home at Flamingos Coffee House since August 2025. Bookable by LGBTQ+ groups on weekday evenings 6-9pm; free drop-in social Wednesdays 2:30-4:30pm.
- Leeds Pride (Leeds Pride Community Group Ltd): Organises the free annual Leeds Pride festival and parade, ending on Lower Briggate.
- LGBT+ Hub (Leeds City Council Equality Assembly): Hybrid consultation and engagement forum, four times a year, 5:30-7:30pm. Email LeedsLGBT@Leeds.gov.uk.
- Leeds Freedom Families: Support network for parents and guardians of LGBTQ+ children of any age; launched February 2019, relaunched online monthly in 2021 (current schedule not confirmed). Linked from Angels of Freedom's families page.
- Leeds Queer Film Festival: DIY festival of new and alternative LGBTQ cinema; marking 21 years. No 2026 festival: full five-day festival returns in 2027, with one-off screenings meanwhile.
- TransLeeds: Peer support for trans, non-binary and gender-expansive people (18+); meets at Flamingos.
- West Yorkshire Queer Stories: Oral history collection of LGBTQ+ lives in West Yorkshire (around 200 interviews, 2018-2020), run with MESMAC.
- Yorkshire Terriers FC: LGBTQ+ football club founded 1997; Thursday training and Sunday kickabouts.
- Leeds Hunters Rugby: Inclusive rugby club, established 2016.
