Blackpool FC Community Trust LGBTQ+ football

Inclusive recreational football for LGBTQ+ people and allies of any ability, run by Blackpool FC's community charity.

Some details here may be out of date. Check with the group before you go.

Blackpool FC Community Trust, the football club's community charity, launched weekly LGBTQ+ football sessions in 2023. They are recreational and inclusive, so whether you played for years or have never kicked a ball, you are welcome.

What they offer

  • Relaxed, inclusive football for LGBTQ+ people and allies.
  • All abilities welcome. The focus is on fun, fitness and meeting people rather than competition.
  • A friendly route into sport for people who have been put off by changing-room culture in the past.

When and where

When the sessions launched, they ran on Mondays from 7pm to 8pm at Aspire Sports Hub, Garstang Road West, in the north of Blackpool.

We have not been able to confirm that the sessions are still running, or at the same time and place, so check with the Trust before you go.

How to get in touch

Good to know

  • Wear trainers or astro boots and comfortable sports kit, and bring water.
  • Blackpool has a proud place in the story of LGBTQ+ visibility in football. Blackpool FC's Jake Daniels has spoken publicly about being gay and about masculinity in the game.
  • Prefer the water? The monthly LGBTQ+ swimming group has a coach and the pool to itself for an hour.
