DSD Families
A UK charity, founded by two parents in 2011, supporting young people and families affected by differences of sex development.
DSD Families is a UK charity that supports young people and families affected by differences of sex development (DSD), the medical name for a group of rare conditions affecting chromosomes, reproductive organs or hormones. Some people with these conditions describe themselves as intersex; others prefer the medical terms.
It was founded in 2011 by two parents and offers expert-led information, peer support, educational workshops, a youth programme where young people can meet others with similar experiences, and access to psychologists with relevant expertise.
There is no intersex or DSD group in Blackpool itself, so national charities like this are the main source of peer support.
