Lancashire LGBT is the county-wide LGBTQ+ charity (registered charity 1137578). Its aim is to help LGBTQ+ people across Lancashire feel happier, healthier and better connected. Its office is in Preston, but it runs several services in Blackpool.
What they offer
- Counselling and one-to-one support.
- Peer support groups and an online directory of groups across the county, including many in Blackpool.
- Mental Health Hour sessions.
- An information service if you don't know where to turn.
- Gender outreach for trans and non-binary people on or waiting for the gender identity clinic pathway.
- Hate crime third-party reporting, so you can report an incident without going to the police directly.
- Training and a Quality Mark for organisations that want to become more LGBTQ+ inclusive. Several Blackpool GP practices, colleges and charities hold it.
In Blackpool
- A monthly LGBTQ+ swimming session with a coach.
- A free gender outreach drop-in at Blackpool Central Library.
- Transparent, a monthly meet-up for parents of trans people, is contacted through the charity's inbox.
- Its directory also lists an LGBT+ cycling group for the Blackpool and Fylde coast, and smaller groups like this often share ride details on social media.
