Lancashire Mental Health Crisis Line

A free, round-the-clock NHS phone line for anyone in Lancashire, including Blackpool, who needs urgent mental health help.

The Mental Health Crisis Line is a free NHS phone service for people in Lancashire, including Blackpool and the Fylde coast, who need urgent help with their mental health. It is open 24 hours a day.

What they offer

Telephone support from mental health staff when you are in crisis. That might mean you are having thoughts of suicide or self-harm, feel unable to cope, or are worried about someone else's safety. The team can talk things through with you and help you decide on next steps, including getting you in touch with local NHS services.

How to get in touch

  • Call 0800 953 0110, free, 24 hours a day.
  • If you'd rather text, SHOUT offers free text support. Text 85258.
  • You can also call NHS 111 and choose option 2 for mental health.

In an emergency

If your life or someone else's is at immediate risk, call 999 or go to A&E. Blackpool Victoria Hospital has the nearest A&E.

Good to know

  • You don't need to be under a mental health team to call.
  • Friends and family can call if they are worried about someone.
  • If what you need is someone to listen rather than urgent help, Samaritans are free on 116 123, day and night.
  • For ongoing LGBTQ+ support once the crisis has passed, Horizon LGBTQ+ on Dickson Road and Lancashire LGBT both offer counselling and one-to-one support.
