Liberty Church Blackpool

A small, openly LGBTQ+ inclusive Christian church in North Shore, with Sunday worship, a free Wednesday meal and same-sex weddings.

Liberty Church Blackpool is a small Christian congregation that welcomes LGBTQ+ people fully and openly. It was one of the first gay-affirming churches in the town and is a registered charity (number 1126460).

What they offer

  • Sunday Meeting: an inclusive, contemporary worship service, followed by tea and coffee. Everyone is welcome.
  • Food for Thought: a free meal on Wednesday evenings, followed by an informal discussion.
  • Weddings and blessings for same-sex couples. The minister doesn't charge a fee for either.
  • A confidential place to report hate crime, if you would rather not go to the police directly.

When and where

The church meets at St Paul's Worship Centre, Egerton Road, in North Shore.

  • Sunday Meeting: 6.30pm.
  • Food for Thought: meal from 6.30pm on Wednesdays, with discussion from 7.15pm.

Good to know

  • If you have dietary needs for the Wednesday meal, let the church know 24 hours ahead.
  • Local transport can be arranged on request. Buses 3 and 4 also serve the area.
  • You don't need to be a regular churchgoer, or sure what you believe, to come along. Many LGBTQ+ people of faith have found church a difficult place in the past, and Liberty aims to be a place where that isn't the case.
