The Phoenix Clinic
A monthly NHS sexual and reproductive health clinic just for trans and gender-diverse people, held in Blackpool and Preston.
The Phoenix Clinic is a dedicated sexual and reproductive health clinic for trans and gender-diverse people. It is run by the Blackpool and Lancashire Sexual Health Service and takes place once a month in Blackpool and in Preston.
What they offer
The clinic offers the same kind of care as a general sexual health clinic, including testing, treatment, contraception and advice, in a setting designed around trans and gender-diverse patients. Staff understand that standard clinics can feel awkward or exposing, from the forms to the waiting room, and the clinic aims to remove those worries.
When and where
The clinic runs monthly, but the venue and dates aren't published. You will be told where to go when you book.
How to get in touch
Book through the main NHS sexual health line on 0300 1234 154, Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, and ask for the Phoenix Clinic.
Good to know
- Like all NHS sexual health services, it is free and confidential.
- If you can't wait for the next monthly clinic, for example if you need emergency contraception or PEP after a risk of HIV, call the same number and ask for an urgent appointment at a general clinic. Out of hours, call NHS 111.
- Horizon LGBTQ+ on Dickson Road also runs sexual health clinics for trans people, and free home testing kits are available online if you would rather test privately.
- For wider support with gender identity, including the gender identity clinic pathway, see the Gender Outreach drop-in at Blackpool Central Library.
