SH.UK free home testing

A free online sexual health clinic that posts STI and HIV test kits, condoms and more to Blackpool and Lancashire residents.

SH.UK is a free online sexual health clinic. The Blackpool and Lancashire NHS sexual health service uses it for postal testing, so if you live locally you can test at home without booking an appointment.

What they offer

  • Home test kits for chlamydia, gonorrhoea, HIV, syphilis and hepatitis B and C.
  • Free condoms and lube by post.
  • PrEP by post.
  • Contraception.

How it works

  1. Order a kit online and answer a few questions about your sexual history, so you get the right tests.
  2. The kit arrives in plain packaging.
  3. Take your samples at home and post them back in the prepaid envelope.
  4. Get your results online. If anything needs treating, you will be told what to do next.

Good to know

  • What you can order depends on your postcode, so enter your Blackpool or Fylde postcode to see what is available to you.
  • Home kits are great for routine checks, but they don't replace a clinic if you have symptoms, need PEP after a recent HIV risk, or want to talk something through. In those cases, call the NHS sexual health service on 0300 1234 154 or visit Horizon LGBTQ+ on Dickson Road.
  • Horizon also hands out free testing kits, and the Whitegate clinic has offered kits for collection, so you can pick one up rather than wait for the post.
  • Testing every few months is a good habit if you have new or multiple partners.
