Local help in Blackpool
If you would like to talk to someone face to face, Horizon LGBTQ+ at 102 Dickson Road runs a free, confidential support service for people living with or affected by HIV, as well as rapid HIV testing. You can call them on 01253 311431. The NHS sexual health service (0300 1234 154) provides HIV testing, PEP and treatment referrals.
Good to know
- People living with HIV who are on effective treatment and have an undetectable viral load can't pass HIV on to sexual partners. A diagnosis today is very different from the past.
- If you think you have been exposed to HIV in the last 72 hours, don't wait for a helpline. Call the NHS sexual health service, NHS 111 or go to A&E and ask about PEP.
- Blackpool has signed up to the Fast-Track Cities goal of ending new HIV transmissions, so expect more testing and awareness activity around the town.
