Love, Loss & Living: Through an LGBTQ+ Lens

A Sunday lunchtime of music, storytelling and conversation about LGBTQ+ love, loss and community at Funny Girls.

Love, Loss & Living: Through an LGBTQ+ Lens is a daytime event at Funny Girls on Sunday 11 October 2026, from noon to 1.45pm.

It opens with music and storytelling about LGBTQ+ love and loss. Then BBC Lancashire hosts a conversation with Funny Girls founder Basil Newby about building LGBTQ+ spaces in Blackpool and living through the AIDS era. The session closes with Electric Pink Voices, Blackpool's LGBTQ+ choir, singing a newly commissioned arrangement.

It is a rare chance to hear the story of the scene from someone who helped build it, in the venue he founded.

Tickets: the price isn't published on the listings we've seen, so check the ticket page before you go.

Tip: it finishes in time for a Sunday roast in the Rainbow Quarter, with several venues serving every Sunday.

Details last checked 8 October 2026. Times and line-ups change, so confirm with the venue before you travel.
