What it is

Oscars is the bar you head to when the curtain comes down at Funny Girls. It sits inside the same art deco former cinema on Dickson Road, and it bills itself as the beating heart of LGBTQ+ nightlife. When the show empties out, the room fills up with a mix of show-goers still buzzing from the revue and regulars who have come out specifically for the late session.

It is smaller and more relaxed than the main showroom: more lounge than theatre. Expect karaoke, live singers and a party playlist rather than a staged production.

History in brief

The Odeon building on Dickson Road was converted for Funny Girls in 2002, and its upper levels have held several bars and club spaces since then. When the venue was put up for sale in 2025, its particulars listed Oscar's Bar as one of the separate units within the building. It continued trading through the 2026 change of ownership at Funny Girls.

What's on

• Wednesday: opens late, around 11pm, for the after-show crowd.
• Thursday: opens late, around 11pm, and runs into the early hours.
• Friday and Saturday: opens earlier, from about 9pm, and runs until around 2am. These are the busiest nights.
• Sunday to Tuesday: usually closed.

Karaoke and live music are the mainstays, and the Funny Girls after-show party is the main event on show nights.

Who it suits

Oscars is a natural second act if you've just seen the show and aren't ready for bed, or if you want a sing-song with a gay-friendly crowd without the full volume of a dance club. Hen and birthday groups from the show mix with locals, so it is lively but rarely intimidating.

There is no published cover charge. Funny Girls runs a strict 18+ policy with Challenge 25 ID checks across the building, so bring photo ID.

Accessibility

No step-free details are published for the bar itself. The box office team asks people with access needs to phone ahead, and that is the best route for Oscars too.

Location and nearby

Oscars is at the bottom of Dickson Road, two minutes from Blackpool North station, opposite the top of Queen Street. From the door you are a short walk from the Flying Handbag, Sherlock's and Kaos on Queen Street, which stay open even later at weekends. Man Bar and the Cuban Bar are a few doors up Dickson Road.
