The Blackpool North is a public bar and grill with rooms and suites on the corner of Lord Street and Banks Street, bang in the middle of the Rainbow Quarter. Lord Street's guest houses and bars are on the doorstep, Dickson Road and Funny Girls are a minute away, and Blackpool North station is just up the street.

It is LGBTQ+ friendly and everyone is welcome, which is exactly what the quarter is about. The windows fly Pride and Progress Pride flags, and it has been proud to take part in the Lord Street party during Pride. The crowd is a relaxed mix of hotel guests, locals and people on their way between the Lord Street bars and the Promenade.

Why go

  • Open all afternoon. The public bar opens from midday until late, so it is a good daytime stop before the bigger venues get going.
  • Food. It is a bar and grill, with home-made bar food such as BBQ ribs and nachos.
  • Handy for the station. If you are arriving by train, it is one of the closest bars to the platform, and a good first or last drink.
  • Rooms upstairs. It also has rooms and suites, so you can stay where you drink.

Nearby

Welhorny's, the men-only guest house at 33 to 37 Banks Street, is a few doors along, and Banks Street car park, the biggest near the bars, is on the same street. See Banks Street and Lord Street.

Tips

  • The public bar opens from midday until late.
