Just Be Me: a new musical for Pride's 20th
Pride weekend started a day early this year with the premiere of Just Be Me – A New Musical in Concert at the Central Pier Showbar on Thursday 4 June.
Written for Blackpool Pride's 20th anniversary, it was developed in Blackpool with a cast drawn from the town. There were no formal auditions: anyone interested could turn up to Sunday rehearsals at Claremont Park Community Centre and sing a song.
It looks back over twenty years of Pride but also forward, with identity and defiance at its heart. It was designed to tour further afield after its Blackpool debut, so keep an eye out if you missed it.
