Rainbow QuarterThe independent guide to gay Blackpool

Bar Hosts, Drag DJs and Cabaret Regulars

The resident hosts, DJs and regular cabaret names who keep the Rainbow Quarter's bars busy every night of the week.

Blackpool's drag scene does not stop at the big shows. Most nights out in the quarter are run by a resident host or drag DJ who plays the music, calls the bingo, runs the karaoke and introduces the cabaret. These are the names you are most likely to meet at the bar.

The Flying Handbag, 44 Queen Street

  • Miss Amber is the lead resident queen. She runs the Wednesday afternoon comedy quiz and hosts Thursday and Friday nights. See her profile.
  • DJ Pudsley is a drag queen and DJ who co-hosts TFI Friday with Miss Amber. The venue's own description is that you never know what you'll get when Pudsley is on the decks.
  • DJ Nathan is billed as a party DJ who keeps the dancefloor going into the early hours.
  • Ginger Rogers is a resident performer with a love of musical theatre, described by the venue as a West End Wendy: expect show tunes and jazz hands.
  • Miss Penny makes guest appearances on various dates through 2026.
  • The Handbag also runs a Sunday afternoon show called Lady and the Camp on selected dates.

Lu-Lu's Cabaret Lounge, 78b-82 Dickson Road

Lu-Lu's is a small, friendly cabaret bar with a public bar and a second lounge. Cameron has hosted the Friday and Saturday nights, with cabaret acts from 7pm, and Crystal Candyfloss has hosted Sunday evenings. See her profile.

Peek-a-Booze, 72-74 Dickson Road

Peek-a-Booze is a bar with rooms that runs something every night, mostly hosted games and live singers rather than drag.

  • Wayne is host and DJ for Monday bingo with Blankety Blank, Wednesday bingo with Play Your Cards Right, and Thursday karaoke, which the venue describes as full of chaos, charm and camp energy.
  • DJ Keiron hosts Tuesday karaoke and the Friday afternoon karaoke session, Winner Takes It All.
  • Weekend evenings bring live singers and cabaret acts. The autumn 2026 diary includes Belinda Scandal, a cabaret act back by popular demand, the double act Bosom Buddies, and Doctor Woof, promising chaos and camp on Halloween weekend.
  • Earlier editions of the Rainbow Weekend featured a Super Sunday Drag Show here.

McGraths, 87 Lord Street

McGraths is a guesthouse with its own public bar that books resident drag queens, singers and visiting cabaret. During the 2025 Rainbow Weekend it hosted drag artists Lola Lasagna and Chris D'Bray, and Bernie B, billed as a talent-show star. For Halloween 2026 it has a Sanderson Sisters-themed drag takeover.

Rendezvous, 15-17 Lord Street

Rendezvous is a small bar with entertainment most days. It books tribute and drag acts such as Marigold Addams, who brings her Jane McDonald show back on 17 October 2026.

Sherlock's, 23 Queen Street

Sherlock's is the quarter's stylish weekend bar, with DJs and visiting performers from Friday to Sunday. It opened in November 2021 with a set from Danny Beard, who went on to win Drag Race UK. During the 2025 Rainbow Weekend, Drag Race UK's Sum Ting Wong performed there, with a vigil in memory of The Vivienne.

Oscars, inside Funny Girls

When the Funny Girls curtain falls, the after-show crowd moves to Oscars for karaoke and live music into the early hours.

Mardi Gras, 41-43 Lord Street

Mardi Gras runs regular cabaret, live music and karaoke in its public bar. It has also booked comedy acts, such as the risqué stand-up Our Trace in May 2024.
