Bear-friendly Blackpool

Blackpool doesn't have a big standalone leather bar, but it does have a cluster of men-only venues that run bear, pup and fetish events through the year. Everything on this page is for men aged 18 and over. Details change often, so always confirm the date and dress code with the venue before you travel.

The regular venues

The Growlr Club, above the Man Bar (25 Dickson Road). The quarter's men-only cruise club opens on Friday and Saturday nights with wristband entry from the bar downstairs. It runs themed parties, including jock nights, and has lockers, a cruise area and an outdoor smoking terrace. The Man Bar itself is a no-frills gay bar with a pool table, open Friday to Sunday evenings, and its sister gin lounge, Gin & Bear It, is round the corner on Springfield Road.

Acqua Sauna (25–27 Springfield Road). A men's sauna two minutes from Blackpool North station, open seven days a week and through the night at weekends. It hosts GROWL, an afternoon social for bears, cubs, chasers and admirers. The October 2026 edition ran on a Saturday afternoon from midday until 6pm.

W3 Complex (1–3 Charles Street). A men-only sauna that runs weekly theme nights, including naked Thursdays, underwear Fridays and late Saturdays.

Welhorny's (33–37 Banks Street). A private-members, men-only naturist guesthouse and bar with breakfast and party nights. It runs themed weekends, including a three-day bear and pup weekend in October 2026, with pups and other K9s welcome. During the winter Pride fundraising weekend it has run a members-only fetish night and a naked chill-out.

Prince Albert Hotel (11 Yates Street). A discreet, four-star, men-only hotel for gay and bi men, with a guest bar and lounge and some rooms fitted out for play. It publishes a calendar of themed event weekends through the year, typically from February to December.

Trades Bar (51–55 Lord Street). Not a fetish venue, but a men-only bar that makes a relaxed place for a drink before or after.

Planning a weekend

• Book the hotel first. Themed weekends at the men-only hotels are often booked as a package, with minimum stays.
• Check membership rules. Some venues are members only or need a wristband. You may need to join in advance or on arrival.
• Check the dress code. Theme nights may have specific dress codes, and some ask you to bring your own gear.
• Bring ID. Expect to show it.
• Be considerate in the street. The quarter is also a residential neighbourhood with families nearby. Change into your gear at the venue, not on the pavement.

Sexual health

The local LGBTQ+ health charity runs a weekly evening sexual health clinic for men who have sex with men on Tuesdays at Horizon, 102 Dickson Road. Testing has also been offered at one of the saunas. Free postal testing kits are available online across the area. If you use drugs during sex, the same charity offers confidential harm-reduction advice.

Consent and safety

Consent counts in every space, including cruise areas and play rooms. If anyone ignores a "no", tell the staff. If you are assaulted or targeted with hate, you can report it to the police or a third-party reporting centre. See our safety guide.
