What it is and who it welcomes

DeLovely sits at 82 Lord Street, towards the promenade end of the Rainbow Quarter's main guest-house street. It has long been known on the scene as a gay-owned and gay-run guesthouse, and it calls itself a guest house rather than a hotel. It is adults-only and does not take bookings for anyone under 18.

What makes it more than a place to sleep is the bar downstairs. In spring 2024 DeLovely opened its bar to the public, so it now works as a neighbourhood bar and bistro as well as a guest lounge. Expect cocktail deals, weekend happy hours and Sunday lunches, which are popular, so book ahead.

Its past includes a win on a well-known TV B&B contest in 2012.

Rooms

All rooms are en-suite with shower rooms. Each has a flat-screen TV, a hospitality tray with tea, coffee and hot chocolate, an iron, a hairdryer, plug sockets with USB ports and free WiFi. Rooms are cleaned daily. There are no family rooms, and families cannot share a room.

Breakfast, bar and food

  • Breakfast is included as standard. You can have a continental or a full English, and the coffee is locally sourced. Tell the hotel about dietary needs before you arrive. Breakfast has been served from around 8am to 10am, and non-residents staying nearby have been able to eat here too.
  • The bar is fully licensed and has opened from late morning or early afternoon until late evening. Hours have shifted over the years, so check on the day.
  • Evening food is served in the bar, usually from late afternoon into the early evening.

House rules

  • Adults only, with no under-18s and no family rooms.
  • No pets.
  • Latest check-in is 9pm. Later arrivals must be agreed in advance and cost extra.
  • Check-out is 11am. Late check-out until 1pm can be arranged the day before for a fee.
  • Hand your room key back to staff in the bar when you leave. Lost keys cost £20.

Location

DeLovely is near the promenade end of Lord Street. McGraths, Westfield House, Gabrielle's and The Dragonfly are all within a few doors. The Lord Street bars, Funny Girls and the Queen Street clubs are between three and ten minutes' walk away. Blackpool North station is about ten minutes on foot, and the nearest tram stop is Pleasant Street.

Parking

Parking is not included. There are two private spaces, which cost £7 a night and must be reserved when you book. Bank Street car park is about three or four minutes' walk away. The East Topping Street and Dickson Road car parks are further, at about nine to ten minutes.

Accessibility

There is no wheelchair access and there are no ground-floor bedrooms. Some rooms are reached by a steep staircase, so ask for a lower room if stairs are hard for you.

Booking tips

  • The hotel promises to beat the big booking sites if you book direct.
  • Payment is taken two weeks before arrival, not when you book.
  • Cancelling more than two weeks before arrival is free. After that it is non-refundable, but you can move your dates, subject to availability. Special offers have their own terms.
  • If you are booking several rooms, call, as multi-room bookings may get a discount.

Staying or visiting: DeLovely Bar & Bistro

What it is

DeLovely is a gay-owned and gay-run guesthouse with individually themed rooms, and its ground-floor bar and bistro is open to the public as well as hotel guests. It is small, quirky and friendly, and it is one of the few places in the quarter where you can sit down for an early-evening meal before going out. Its signature is cocktails served in teapots.

History in brief

For years the bar served mainly hotel guests. In spring 2024 DeLovely opened it to the public every day, adding a starters-and-mains menu and weekend drinks offers. It now appears on the quarter's bar maps alongside the other Lord Street venues, and it takes part in the quarter's Sunday roast scene. The venue closes for a short holiday break at times. It reopened in October 2026 with food, drinks and its teapot cocktails back on.

Food and drink

  • Food: an early-evening menu of starters and mains, traditionally served from about 4pm to 7pm. Sunday roasts are served by booking.
  • Cocktails: signature cocktails and classics, served by the glass, by the teapot and as sharing fishbowls.
  • Happy hour: Friday and Saturday early evening, with bottled beer bundles and doubles for the price of a single.

Who it suits

DeLovely suits couples, small groups and anyone who wants to eat before Funny Girls or the Lord Street bars, plus guesthouse guests looking for a relaxed drink close to bed. The bar is for adults (18+).

Accessibility

Some guest rooms are reached by a steep staircase. No step-free information is published for the bar.

Location and nearby

DeLovely is towards the northern end of Lord Street, a few doors from Westfield House and close to McGraths, Neon Bar and The Dame Lane. The Queen Street bars are about five minutes' walk.

Tips

  • Book Sunday lunch in advance.
  • Some rooms are up a very steep staircase, so ask if that matters.
