Rainbow QuarterBlackpool's inclusive quarter: everyone welcome

High Street

The street behind Dickson Road, starting by Blackpool North station, with Pride Lodge and guest houses.

High Street is the quarter's back road. It starts at Talbot Road, right by Blackpool North station, and runs north behind and parallel to Dickson Road, crossing the ends of Queen Street, Banks Street, Cocker Street, Yates Street and Pleasant Street. Lewtas Street, Mount Street and Cross Street join it. It is about 390 metres long, with the postcodes FY1 2BL, FY1 2BN, FY1 2BP, FY1 2DL and FY1 2DW, and its southern end is barely a tenth of a mile from the station.

Don't confuse it with the town's "high street" in general: the government's High Street Accelerator money in Blackpool is for Abingdon Street and Queen Street, not this road.

On the street

  • Pride Lodge at 12 High Street is a small LGBTQ+ guest house for a mature crowd, with a hot tub, sauna and gym. It sells discounted passes for the Banks Street car park.
  • The Delamere Hotel, Sunnyside Guest House and Wyndser Guest House are among the other guest houses.
  • Off The Rails Cafe, by the station, serves breakfast and lunch.

The station

The present Blackpool North station opened in 1974 on the site of the old excursion platforms; its entrance echoes a 1938 concrete canopy. Since June 2024 trams have run up Talbot Road to a stop opposite the station, linking it straight to the Promenade.

Getting here

Step out of Blackpool North station and you are almost on it. The Dickson Road car park is about three minutes from the High Street end.
